Meet Caroline, the face behind Venture Out

With the start of the new year and some new followers we thought it would be a great opportunity to interview the founder of Venture Out…introducing Caroline…

Can you tell us a little about your background in luxury adventure?

I have always had a huge passion for adventure and an active outdoors lifestyle.  I started my career in London at Scott Dunn organising high end luxury holidays to Europe.  Following that I moved across to The Ultimate Travel Company where I spent ten years organising both corporate and charity global adventures from climbing Kilimanjaro to cycling across America.  After the pandemic I decided it was time to transfer my skills and knowledge closer to home and so became Venture Out.

What do you think the South Downs offers that other destinations in the UK can’t?

Where do I start! From rolling hills, incredible trails, spectacular scenery and a stunning coastline, it caters for every type of outdoor adventure.  It also offers great train and road links from London, so is easily accessible for a corporate day or weekend away from city life.

What would be your favourite activity in the South Downs?

When living in London I was a keen road biker, spending most weekends riding Richmond Park (along with most other London cyclists!).  When I moved to the South Downs I decided to give mountain biking a go and haven’t looked back.  There is nothing like an early morning ride up in the hills, taking in spectacular views and hurtling down some fun downhill trails to get the adrenaline flowing for the day ahead.

What is your favourite part of your job?

Coming up with new exciting itineraries and meeting clients on event.

What differentiates Venture Out from other companies?

For my corporate clients we offer something completely different from the usual corporate days, such as e-mountain biking, paddle boarding and candlelit yoga.

For groups looking for a city escape we put together tailor made itineraries that offer an unforgettable time filled with adventure, luxury and some very special memories.

What is your biggest challenge to date?

Without doubt taking the jump to set up Venture Out but I haven’t looked back.  And as for a sporting challenge it would have to be either climbing Mount Kilimanjaro or completing a half iron man last year. In 2024 I will be taking on my first ultra marathon across the South Downs…that is how much I love the area!

When you aren’t out on the trails or planning itineraries for clients what else do you enjoy doing?

I am a mum to two gorgeous little boys that keep me very busy.  We love to spend days at the coast, family bike rides and finding the best spots for hot chocolate!

What are you excited about for Venture Out in 2024?

I am really looking forward to exploring some new activities.  Paddle tennis is something we are launching along with our first yoga and paddle boarding day retreat.  I also can’t wait to meet lots of new guests.
